MAGETAN REGENCY

This Regency is located between 111020'30" East Longitude and between 7038'30" South Latitude. Region Boundaries in the north is bounded by Ngawi Regency. Madiun Regency bound east part. In the south is bounded by Ponorogo Regency. And west part is bounded by Central Java Province. The area of Magetan Regency is about 688,82 km2. Magetan Regency consist of 13 districts and 235 villages. Magetan is located in 183km west of Surabaya; it is a beautiful hill resort by the Sarangan Crater Lake.

Sarangan Lake
Telaga (lake) Sarangan is located in the Sub-District of Plaosan, Regency of Magetan, about 1,600 meters above sea level. The climate around is quite cool and comfortable, hence appropriate for recreations. In day time the temperature is around 20 degrees Centigrade, but at nights it lowers to 15 degrees Centigrade. As a tourist destination, Telaga Sarangan has been known since the Dutch time. Here the high-ranking Dutch officials often spent their weekends. It is hence not surprising that around the lake, villas of European architecture can still be found.
